Summer Sweat, Fall Finish: Why Now’s the Time to Celebrate the Training

Summer training is no joke. When the temperature hits 100 degrees or more and you’re trying to stick to a schedule, it’s hard to stay motivated. Whether it’s a marathon, half, 10K, or just your first official 5K, the work you're putting in right now matters.

Let’s be honest...
It’s hot.
You’re ready for some rest.
You’d rather be at the pool or on vacation.

And still, you lace up. You show up. You push through. That effort deserves to be recognized.

Use a Medal Display to Keep the Momentum Going

At Medal Blocks, we believe the journey deserves attention, not just the finish. You don’t have to wait until race day to celebrate progress.

If someone you care about is training right now, this is the time to encourage them. Whether they’re running in the early morning, logging treadmill miles at the gym, or pushing through 109-degree Arizona heat like I did last week, that commitment is worth more than a casual “good job.”

A Placeholder That Feels Like a Promise

Think of this as a training token. A small race medal, a practice event, even a personal record from last month - frame it. Put it on display.

It’s not just a decoration. It’s a reminder. A motivation tool. Something to keep them going through the hardest part of the season.

Because sometimes, just seeing something on the wall makes it easier to take that next step.

Fall Events Are Coming. Mark the Journey Now.

The race may be in October, but the hard part is happening today. Encourage someone in the middle of it all. Show them you see the effort, not just the outcome.

Pick up a Medal Block and give them something to look at on the rough days. Then, when they finally cross the finish line, they’ll already have a place to make that moment last.

I’ve run in 109 degrees before, and I wouldn’t exactly recommend it. If you’re training this summer, check out this guide from Outside Run for smart, realistic tips on running safely in the heat.
